Obituary of Vera M. Schaffer

Vera Mae Schaffer, 90, of Galloway passed away peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2019. Born in Hilliard, FL to Henry and Dolcie Mae Kerr, as Lois Henry Mildred Vera Mae, she was well known as Vera Mae. She formerly worked as a cook for the Head Start School in Atlantic City. Mrs. Schaffer was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Egg Harbor City. Whenever asked how she was she would reply "I'm Blessed and Highly Favored." She was predeceased by her parents and her husband Essie Schaffer. Mrs. Schaffer is survived by her 7 children, Lessie Benjamin of Vineland, Essie Hawkins (Archie) of Egg Harbor Township, Johnnie Schaffer (Mary) of Mays Landing, Carrie Schaffer of Durham, NC, Lovell Schaffer (Josefina) of Wildwood, Frank Schaffer of Mays Landing; William Schaffer (Peace) of Galloway; one brother, Willie Ransom of Vineland; one sister, Rudeen "Ruby" Daniels of Pine Hill and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great- great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Gone Home Memorial for Grandmom Vera, will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019, 11:00 am at Shiloh Baptist Church, 640 Philadelphia Ave., Egg Harbor City, NJ 08215.
