Dear Maryann,
I just learned of Dennis passing. Please accept our condolences. I served with Dennis on the Pickerel; the photo which you included in his obituary. We were both there for the decommissioning in Charleston.

I knew Dennis for a few years, and he seemed a wonderful father and a good man. I am deeply saddened to hear of his family's loss. He was a good photographer, Dawn taught him well.

To Maryann and family,
Our sincerest condolences to you in the passing of Dennis. You were a devoted family during Dennis' struggle. We saw you many times when visiting our mother, Ruth, at Meadowview as well.
I don't remember Dennis being a submariner, but I, too, was with Submarine Squadron 12 when I was in the Navy.
Please take comfort in the following phrase I have said many times to Navy veterans like Dennis: "Sailor, rest your oars. You're in heaven now."
May the good Lord bless and comfort you at this time.
Love, Jim & Madeleine.
