Obituary of Gloria Jean White

Missionary Evangelist Gloria Jean White, 71, of Egg Harbor Township passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, April 8, 2021. Born in New Brunswick, NJ she lived in the Atlantic County, South Jersey area for the majority of her life. Gloria received her education in the Atlantic City Public School System, and as an adult was awarded a Bachelor's Certificate of Theology and Counseling from Jamison Bible College in Philadelphia, PA. Mrs. White primarily served as a homemaker and took great pride in being a wife and mother. She was a active member and co-founder of COFAD(Church Of Faith And Deliverance)Outreach Ministries in Pleasantville, NJ where she was a Missionary Evangelist, beloved to the Daughters of Destiny. Gloria operated in the capacity of wearing many ministry hats. She taught and preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the local prisons, and often took to the streets witnessing her faith to strangers and the homeless. Mrs. White was often praised for having a voice comparable to an angel or songbird. She performed as a soloist, was a soprano in the church choir, and served as choir director. She was a Sunday school teacher, and also a church bus driver. Gloria's hobbies were reading the bible, singing, serving the community, and vacationing with family. Mrs. White was predeceased by her biological parents, Willie-Mamie Alvarez, Samuel Macon, grandson Lamon White, and sister Dorothy Smith. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Otis White Sr; her four children, Christina Macon (Rodney), Kimberly White, Otis White Jr(Tiffany); Gerald White (Nicole); a special nephew who was considered a favorite and like a son, Shamone Alvarez, her father Fundador Alvarez Sr; her brothers, Yahya Saleem-Bey (Samira); Fundador Alvarez, Jr.; her sisters, Ella May (Fred), Patricia Jenkins; Rosalina Alvarez, special sister, Ruebena Shuib, 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 16, 2021 11:00 am in Faith Baptist Church, 829 Tilton Road, Pleasantville, NJ 08232 where a walk through viewing open to family and friends will be held from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. A celebration of life will begin at 12:00 pm for a select group of 125 family members and friends due to social distancing restrictions. The celebration will also be streamed on the following 3 internet broadcasts: fbc829.org, Facebook link https://fbc829.nm-secure.com/ and YouTube Link https://youtube.com/channel/UC9Dtu6abiYwyBePec5c OPA. Burial will follow at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Mays Landing, NJ. Condolences and cards can be sent to the Faith Baptist Church address.In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Refuge Church of Christ, 520 W. Washington Ave., Pleasantville, NJ 08232.
