George Clayton Wilkens, 78 of Folsom, passed away Saturday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA. Born in Abington, PA he was a lifelong South Jersey resident. He owned and operated Wilkens Auto Repair. He was honored by the Hammonton Chamber of Commerce in 1975 & 1979 for his work as a mechanic. George was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War, where he attained the rank of CD3. He was a member of the American Legion F.A. Funston Post 186, the VFW, the DAV Chapter 66, all in Hammonton and he was also a member of the National Rifle Association. He was predeceased by his brother, Peter Wilkens. George is survived by his wife, Phyllis Wilkens (nee Giannini), his children, Steven A. Wilkens, Sr and his wife Lorie of Galloway, Debra Grasso and Lester Keller, Shirley Wells and John Armstrong, Carolin Sacco and her husband Bruce, Kenny Wilkens and his wife Sherri all of Hammonton, his grandchildren, Lesley Wright (Bryan), Matthew Grasso (Kristy), Steven A. Wilkens, Jr., Amanda Grasso, Liza Johnston (Ben), Stephanie Wells, David Sacco, Danielle Wilkens, Michael Sacco, Paul Keller and his great grandchildren, Bryan, Brody, Brayden Wright, Ella, Lila Johnston, Taylor Grasso. George is also survived by his brother, Joseph L. Wilkens, Jr and his wife Marie of Cheltenham, PA, and his sister, Patsy Manz and her husband Lester of Columbus, NJ and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday 11:00am at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third St., Hammonton, where a viewing will be held from 9:00am until 11:00am. Burial will follow in Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor, NJ. Memorial Donations maybe made to the DAV Chapter 66, 44s. S. Egg Harbor Road, Hammonton or to Mrs. Wilkens.
