I moved away last year. Just saw now that Sandy passed.Crying my eyes out. Sandy was the kindest, most beautiful, compassionate soul I know.
She was a fighter, a warrior and a completely beautiful person both inside and out. When I think of the word "Classy"- she is the standard I have always thought of. I know now why recent days have been so dark --her billion megawatt smile is no longer on this Earth.
Heaven gained a most beautiful person, amazing woman. Bruce and Beege - I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. She truly was one of my most favorite people ever. She loved you both so! I don't know that my tears will dry anytime soon.

I was lucky enough to have met Sandy through family many years ago and she was so helpful to me when I started as a school nurse. I always knew I could call her for advice as she had so much experience in the school setting. Besides that, she just oozed love and kindness. She was a strong yet gentle woman who was known to be loved by all. She always showed positivity & grace in her fight and disposition. Rest with the angels Sandy, it was an honor to know you.

Sandy was my charge nurse and trained me when I first went to Newcomb ER. She was always so kind with patience and a solid commitment to nursing. She molded many nurses who aspired to care for others in the compassionate way she did. Truly a humble human being and she will be sadly missed. Becky Del Fava

Our sincere condolences to the Caporale/ Bertonazzi families. I met Sandy at Newcomb Hospital in 1981 and worked 3-11 shift on “2 South” with her. She was the epitome of a nurse professional and easily provided care and compassion to all she cared for. Sandy was in our wedding and we attended her and Bruce’s. May the Lord provide comfort and peace to the families and know that prayers for healing are sent. Sincerely, Brenda (Cox) and Mike McNiss.

I worked in the nurses office with Sandy for two years before being moved to a one on one nurse for a student. I was so sad to leave her, as she was such a wonderful nurse and friend. She was one of a kind and will be greatly missed! She and her family have been in my prayers for months. Marianne Tharp
