Obituary of Zelma Mae Gracie Malloy

Zelma Mae Gracie Malloy, daughter of the late Wilma Shady Estelle Odessa Bennett Malloy & Arthur Edsel Malloy. Zelma departed this life Thursday February 3rd, 2022. She was born October 21st, 1943, in Laurel Hill, NC. She graduated high school in Hammonton NJ in the 60's. Zelma furthered her education where she graduated from Winston- Salem State University. Her love for children catapulted her to teach at Elwood Elementary School and Head Start in NJ. While at Head Start, she moved up to be The Head Start Human Resource Director where she received various awards for her devotion to the early education of children. Zelma's love for children did not stop at her career it was a lifestyle, she was an active member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Laurinburg, NC where she taught Sunday school during college. After graduation she was a member of the Hammonton Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday school there as well. In 1996 Zelma joined Bethel Holy Temple of God and Christ until her health inhibited her from attending. Zelma is survived by her loving brother James Arthur Malloy Jr. of Hammonton, NJ, her adopted sister Leola Avery of Greensboro, NC, & God Daughter and cousin Kimberly Jane Bennett Cockrell (Shannon) of North East, MD. She is also survived by a host of cousins, friends, and co-workers. Funeral Services will be held, Friday February 11, 2022, 10:00 am at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third St., Hammonton, NJ where a viewing will be held from 9:00 am - 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
