Obituary of Emma Gene Bembry

Emma Gene Bembry (nee Renfus) , 98, of Mullica Township passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on Monday, October 10, 2022. Emma was born in Dooly County, Georgia on December 11, 1923 to the late James and Mary Renfus. At an early age Emma gave her life to Jesus at Evergreen Baptist Church in Pinehurst, GA. On December 18, 1943 Emma and L.D. Bembry were married and from this union came three beautiful children, one son Johnnie B. Bembry, two daughters, Rosie Mae Bembry and Bessie Lean Bembry . Before retiring Emma had worked at Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton and Ancora Psychiatric Hospital in Winslow Township. Emma enjoyed spending time with family, eating home cooked meals, going to church and she had a great sense of humor. Emma was predeceased by her husband, L.D. Bembry, her daughter, Bessie Lean Bembry, her sisters, Rachel Washington and Everlean Washington and brothers, Charles Renfus and Ernest Renfus. She is survived by one daughter, Rosie Mays, and one son, Johnnie B. Bembry (Betty), grandchildren, Johnie B. Bembry Jr., JoAnn Nelson (Gary), John Bembry, her sister, Katie Lane, several additional grandchildren, many great grandchildren great great grandchildren and six nieces. A viewing will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third Street in Hammonton, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM. Funeral service will be live streamed at Carnesale Funeral Home Hammonton You Tube Channel where everyone is encouraged to subscribe for free before service. Burial will follow at Winslow Methodist Cemetery, 27 Hall Street in Winslow.
