Obituary of Margaret Patterson

Margaret Patterson (nee Rouse) 86, of Buena Vista Township, NJ, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at her daughter's residence with loved ones by her side. Born in Wilmington, North Carolina she was a resident of Buena Vista Township for over 50 years. Mrs. Patterson was a loving homemaker, foster parent to many children, and always seemed to gravitate towards professions involving those with special needs and/or children. Her first and final jobs were at local elementary schools as a classroom aide and cafeteria worker. She left the workforce to care for her husband of 50+ years following an illness. She was a longtime member of the Newtonville Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Newtonville. She was predeceased by her husband, James A. Patterson, her siblings, Joseph Bryant, Alice Carroll, Dorothy Sidbury, Annie Lou Williams, Roland Rouse, Ruth Weems, Geraldine Scott and Maureen Vanish. Mrs. Patterson is survived by her four children, Tracy Renee Wideman (Kevin), Wanda Denise Miller (John), Sharon Lynette Patterson, Salim Hakeem Keitt (Victoria); one sister, Irene Yusuf and five grandchildren, Chanelle (Eric), Kiera, Marcus, Colby and Aryana. Also, survived by a host of adored nieces, nephews, cousins and friends - too many to name. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 3, 2023, 11:00 AM at the Newtonville Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 955 Route 54, Newtonville, NJ, where a viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Burial will be held in Greenmount Cemetery, Hammonton, NJ.
