Dear Montañez Family – Our great colleague Teofilo "Tito" Montañez – Your beloved was a real nice man and human being as we remember him during the year my wife Yesmin and I lived in New Jersey – reminded me of my own dad in many ways – it was great to always listen to Tito explain the laws of our great nation but more so the laws of life and human nature. He was always a great inspiration to us and it will carry in our memories of him. We will pray for him and hope all the Montañez family members keep him in your hearts forever. Stay well always. Blessings! -JSA

Tito was an amazing speaker. I met him in high school at a leadership summit and immediately was blown away at his presence. I saw him again when I was in EOF during the summer program and he was speaking and he had embraced me, proud to see me in college and I was just as proud to be recognized by him. I was involved heavily at Rowan and got him to speak for several organizations for events. I continues staying connected. He gave advice for lots of things I reached out for. Such a legacy, he was a living legend yet so humble, hilarious and easily approachable as if he was an old friend or relative. Honorable is a title he earned long before becoming the 1st Latino judge of Camden County. A true local hero to many that will be missed forever as he made history and must always be remembered and taught about amongst the Latino community. Rest in Peace Tito!!!!

There are too many wonderful memories of Tito to share but the one that sticks with me the most is the first one. Marcy had invited me over to meet her parents. Tito being a lawyer and judge, I was nervous I that I was going to get a fatherly grilling. But it was just the opposite. I was met with warmth and a joke that set me at ease. I felt like a member of the family from day one and he went on to treat me like his own son.
If you look up character in the dictionary, you will see a picture of Tito. Not only because he was 'a character', but because he displayed so much of it. I will always admire his tireless work ethic, patience, humor, wisdom and unending love for his family, who he always put first. I love you and miss you and I will do my best to keep your memory alive through my actions and how I raise my children.

I knew Tito when he was a student at Glassboro State and I was a young administrator. At that time, he was one of those students who I KNEW would be a success and thrive. I was SO right. More importantly, he was a smart, caring, and very FUNNY person….his wit and laugh stood out. I was fortunate to have seen him over the years and when we had a chance we would talk about THEN and NOW. And, we would always laugh. He was a wonderful man with a wonderful family. I am smiling now, thinking of him….as it should be. Bob “Zazz” Zazzali

Words cannot express what you mean to me Tio. I’ll miss you forever and love you always !!! I’ll never forget the many times you talked me off the ledge due to my anger and taught me to forgive and let go. I will cherish the times we spent together at the buffets and I will always cherish n remember your sense of humor. I appreciate that whenever I called you and it was in your power you answered . I thank you for the example you set for how a husband is suppose to love his wife in the way you loved my Tia, also how a father is suppose to love his children in the way you loved my cousins ,and how a man is suppose to love his family in the way that you loved ours. I am so grateful that you were apart of my life . I love you Tio …… I know God needed a good one and He got a great one

A good man and fair judge who clearly saw all sides of an argument and knew how to make a court run well. Having the good fortune and chance to know and work with him, he’ll be sorely missed, not only for his acumen, but for his sense of honor and duty. Ve con Dias y La Garcia, amigo.
