John was loved by so many because he was so kind and unassuming. His grandchildren adored him and ran into his arms when he arrived… and we all know how children know the character of a person. Our condolences to his family whose hearts are broken. Maggie and Gustie

I grew up next door to John, and credit him for my love of muscle cars.
The rides he gave his sister/my childhood best friend Barbara and I as kids in his immaculately kept 1971 Monte Carlo were always a thrill. After telling us to sit still, feet on the mats and don't touch anything lest we leave fingerprints, he always threw in a bit of driving that made us slide like hockey pucks on ice across the sleek leather seats. We always laughed our heads off and couldn't wait for the next ride.
I remember John as a hard worker and very dedicated member of the Hammonton Volunteer Rescue Squad. He not only had the coolest car on the street, we kids thought he was the coolest guy in town.
Rest in Peace, John. My deepest condolences to Mrs. Amendolia and your children and grandchildren.

Deepest Sympathy for Your Loss. John was a good Friend and Father. I will always remember Him enjoying Our Many softball Team celabrations that We had on the back steps of the Columbia 1. We played Morta Bella (Deadly Ten Fingers) and Don et Copa (boss and second) into the wee hours and He Never Complained about Our Anticks. We all enjoyed His Roastbeef sandwichsand His Dads Long Hots Which were My Favorate. Thats how He Got the nickname Beef. I remebber One time when they run out of peppers in the Bar and He took Me down the Basement to get some more for the kitchen ,He knew that I liked them so much He gave Me a Jurr to take Home I was Horoned.I will also Rember the nigth after We Won the 1982 Mens Softball State Championship as Columbia Caterers. When We got backto Hammonton from Trenton it was very late so He caller the Silver Coin to stay oppen so We could celabrate. That was Quite an Party!!! Thank You John for all the Good Times and Frendship.

“Though nothing can bring back splendor in the grass glory in the flowers, we will grieve not but rather find strength in what remains behind.” This sums up a friendship with John Amendolia - here was a guy who went from ritches to rags and landed on the moon. Let no one in this town take credit for John’s red gravy roast beef, his infamous mac n cheese and his overwhelming dedication to this community by his service on the rescue squad. I wonder how many are saying “He saved my life.”
If only we could have known the real John, the sensitive John, the loving John. His greatest accomplishment if he was asked would be surely his role as Pop-pop!! Those innocent children who loved him unconditionally!!! As he loved them.
For every tear he shed in private could refill the Hammonton lake.
I got to know him because my husband and he were friends. I laughed a million times over how they scared John one night with a simple werewolf's mask and hands. Oh and let us not forget how he introduced Hammonton to a hot cooked meal at a banquet.
I am sure that John is with those first two people that loved him unconditionally his parents- his two sisters both who he loved. And then I can see my cousin Ross Restuccio seeing John said ,” Johnny did you bring my lighter?” John would turn around slowly and say “ Ross I thought you had it!”
RIP John may God grant you the love and peace you so rightly deserve.
John I do not cry because you are gone, I smile because I was part of your life!!Thank you!
