Obituary of Joseph P. Oliva

Joseph P. "Briggs" Oliva, 89 of Hammonton died Wednesday at Innova Health Center. Born in Hammonton he was a lifelong resident there. Mr. Oliva served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He was a former member of the V.F.W. and Sons of Italy Lodge both in Hammonton. Before retiring he worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator for Mays Landing Sand & Gravel. He was predeceased by his first wife, Dolly Oliva. He is survived by his wife, Isabel Bertino Oliva, two daughters and their spouses, Maria and Edward Brita, and Lucille and Michael Apalucci all of Hammonton, two sisters, Katherine Siligato of Berlin, and Sadie Bello of Minotola, his grandchildren, Edward Brita and his wife Malinda Brita of Egg Harbor Township, Michael Apalucci, Louis Apalucci, and Kendal Apalucci all of Hammonton, two special nephews, Carmen Lancetta and John Oliva and many other nieces and nephews , and great nieces and great nephews. A viewing will be held Sunday 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM and Monday after 10:00 AM at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third Street in Hammonton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday 11:00 AM at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish Church of St. Martin DePorres, 129 Park Avenue in Hammonton. Entombment will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in Hammonton.
