Obituary of Carolyn H. Cain

Lieutenant Colonel Carolyn Helen Cain, U.S. Army , Retired. Born on January 14, 1938 and a long time resident of Indian Branch Park, Hammonton, NJ sadly passed away on August 12, 2012. She was a surviving daughter of Helen and Stanley Cain and sister of Jeannette L. Ciliberto of Manahawkin. She is survived by her beloved nieces and nephews, Dee Mueller Young, Rocco A. Ciliberto Jr. and spouse Kathleen, David V. Ciliberto and spouse Saverio La Guardia, and Mary H. Knudsen and spouse Robert. She has six great nieces and nephews, Melissa, Samantha, Kelly, Bobby, Connor and Molly. Carolyn had a long and exemplary career with the U.S. Army. She held strong beliefs in our country and freedom. She had the distinguished honor of being the first female Provost Marshal during her military service in San Francisco, CA and she took great pride in training many of her Women Army Corps Services staff (W.A.C.S.) in Fort McClellan, AL. She had many great experiences traveling the world for U.S. Army missions. Upon her retirement from the military Carolyn earned her Master's Degree in City and Regional Planning from Rutgers State University and ventured into another service career. Upon her final retirement she moved home to Hammonton where she took care of her parents Stan and Helen Cain until their deaths. She loved to play Pinochle and her faithful dog Dundee, took great joy in nature and loved our Little Egg Harbor River and was often heard by her neighbors- HEY GUYS LET'S GO TUBING! A full time church volunteer, she was an active and faithful member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Hammonton. A viewing will be held Friday, August 17, 2012 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, S. Third and Peach Streets in Hammonton, where funeral services will take place at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Atlantic City Cemetery in Pleasantville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, PO Box 443, Hammonton, NJ 08037.
