I was saddened to hear of the passing of Dr Marcia Leek. I had the privilege of being one of her students during her tenure at Highland High School in the 1980's, where she was head of the science department, as well as my Chemistry teacher. She had a passion for learning and education that was infectious to us, her students. She took a great interest in how her students fared and did anything she could to further their achievement.
I have good memories of my time at Highland with Dr. Leek. One particular memory that stands out is when we went for the Science League competitions at Stockton State College of that year. The team competed in many events such as laser target calculation, and the building of a catapult. Our catapult fired a projectile that traversed the entire gymnasium and hit the wall at about 300 feet, winning the category. This helped Highland High to win the whole competition that year, and the prize was a new Commodore Plus/4 computer with peripherals. She was beaming with pride at the achievement, and we all had a blast.
I know That she made a large difference in my life and the education pursued after Highland High School, and I am sure many others will echo that sentiment. I have faith that she is now at peace with our Lord, with the full knowledge that she improved the lives of many through her tireless work in furtherance of our education. I pray for her family and friends and all who cared for her that they will find peace. God Bless.

Dr. Leek was my biology teacher at Highland many years ago. She also led our Environmental Quality Studies after school activity. Dr. Leek was an amazing teacher whom I have thought of often throughout the years. Please accept my condolences on her passing.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Dr. Leek's passing. I was her student in two classes at Highland HS in the early 80s, and while I learned a lot of science in her classroom, going on to pursue premed studies, I remember her more for coming to all of my shows - 3 a year for 4 years. She ultimately inspired me to use my love and knowledge of science with a bit of performing to follow in her footsteps and become a teacher. I still pay it forward to my students and attend their events. God Bless. You will be in my prayers.

I was so sad to hear about Dr. Leek's passing. I had the pleasure of working for her years ago when I first started at Timber Creek. She had a grandmotherly approach to others around her very caring and respectful. She will be sorely missed.

Marcia taught both of our daughters at Highland High School. They attribute much of their knowledge in Science to Marcia's teaching and diligence. One of our daughter's helped her take care of your Mom and, as a chemo nurse, guided her and helped her through her bought with breast cancer. I also worked with her all three of her positions in the district. She became a good friend. Our condolences to you Bonnie. May Marcia rest in peace.

Dr. Leek was my Biology teacher and eventually my colleague at Highland, Principal at Timber Creek and Asst Superintendent at District. Her legacy to those of us lucky enough to be taught by or work with her is clear and simple; work hard for knowledge not grades, never compromise your values, always put students first, and be a good friend. Thank you Dr. Leek. You will never be forgotten.
