Obituary of John "Jack" Hearing

John H. "Jack" Hearing, 94, of Largo, FL and formerly of Hammonton passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017. His loving wife of 67 years, Jane B. Hearing, (nee Burger) 93, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017. Jack was very active in his Church Parish Community. He served as lector and greeter at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish. He also volunteered at the Parish Bingo Games. Jack was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Vincent Pallotti Council 3477 and the Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Hammonton VFW Post 1026, the Never There Gun Club, and was a Board of Director at the Hammonton Swim Club and an U.S. Navy Veteran who served during World War II.
Jane was very active in her Church Parish Community. She was a lector and Eucharistic Minister. She was a Past President of St. Anthony of Padua's Parish Council, where she received a Volunteer of the Year Award. Jane volunteered for many years at the Parish Bingo games. She was a member of the advisory council to the Camden Diocese and was presented with the Bishop's Award. Jane was a member of the Catholic Daughters, locally and on the State level. She was a volunteer for many years at Wm. B. Kessler Memorial Hospital, and was a former member of the Hammonton Woman's Civic Club. Jane and Jack are survived by their three daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Warren Backer of Safety Harbor, FL; Maureen and Dennis Carey of Upper Darby, PA; Colleen and Michael Benedetto of Aurora, CO; 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Jane is also survived by her brother David "Ace" Burger of Venice, FL. Jack is also survived by his sister Betty Berenotto and her husband Frank of Linwood.
A Mass of Christian Burial for both Jane and Jack will be held, Friday, January 13, 2017, 11:00am in St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish Church of St. Anthony of Padua, 285 Route 206, Hammonton, NJ, where a visitation will be held from 10:00am until 11:00am. Burial for both will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Hammonton. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's High School, 328 Vine St., Hammonton, NJ 08037 (www.stjoeek12.org)
