Obituary of Benigno Mendez

Benigno Mendez Sr., 70, of Hammonton passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at AtlantiCare Medical Center in Galloway Township. Born in Cidra, Puerto Rico he lived in Hammonton most of his life. Before retiring he worked for Johnson Matthey in West Deptford. He was predeceased by his parents, Emilio Mendez and Julia Figueroa, one brother, Hector L. Mendez, and his father in law, Ismael Aponte. He is survived by his wife, Gloria E. Mendez (nee Aponte), six children, Benigno Mendez Jr. of Hammonton, Evelyn Mendez (Edwin Morales) of Hammonton, Angel Mendez (Denise) of Waterford Works, Miriam Mendez (Dave Souza) of Hammonton, Benny A. Mendez of Hammonton, Lillian Yvette Velasquez (Steven) of Hammonton, two brothers, Felix A. Mendez Sr. of Mays Landing, Luis A. Mendez of Hammonton, eight sisters, Maria L. Mendez of Puerto Rico, Gladys Ortiz, Hilda R. Mendez both of Hammonton, Ada E. Mendez and Ana A. Mendez both of Puerto Rico, Neida Quinones of Hammonton, Migdalia Mendez of Puerto Rico, and Magdalena Mendez of Hammonton, nine grandchildren, Jose III, Mariah, Javian, Alexis Jr., Alexia, Alysia, Steven, Maximillian, and Gabriel, one great grandchild Jose IV, his mother in law, Virginia G. Ortiz, and many family members and friends. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM and Wednesday, March 15, 2017 after 9:00 AM at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third Street in Hammonton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish Church of St. Joseph's, 226 French Street in Hammonton. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hammonton.
