I grew up listening to Mr. Kasuba on KYW radio so you can imagine how excited I was to have the great Mr. Kasuba as a teacher when I attended Rowan University (then Glassboro State College). This was in the early’80’s and I think the course was Broadcast Journalism. I was even more excited when I got an A in his class! One of the highlights of my college years and something I will always remember. Mr. Kasuba was a great teacher and a nice man. My condolences to his family. Lori Busch

When I was a kid I used to listen to him on KYW, his sign off!! I never knew who he was until years later when I met his beautiful daughter Kristine . She loved and accepted me regardless of my trials and tribulations. She would always tell me family and loyalty was how she was raised. That was almost 30 years ago.Even though Kristine and I have been together for many years , marrying almost 4 years ago, I met him for the first time prior to our wedding. Not because of his distain for me , but because I wanted to live up to his expectations as a son in law .when we first me one of the things he told me was ,”if you can’t take care of yourself then you can’t take care of home”. That resignated with me. From our conversations I grew to understand him more and what he wanted from me when it came to Kristine. The only problem is I’ll never know if I lived up to those expectations . His stern yet gracefulness will definitely show me a sign in the days to come. I know he’s watching us all, and if I know My father in law like you do , chances are he’s got a 16oz ribeye and a martini in front of him , while Donna is knitting him a welcome home outfit.I’ve always respected him because he never held back his feelings when it came to me. I think our breakthrough came when he told me his DNA test said he was 1/8 Nigerian. Oh how he couldn’t wait to tell me . Lol ..he taught me many things in such a short period of time time and for that I’m forever grateful . He was a great provider, son, brother father , husband, colleague and grandfather. An overall Legend in his time . And for these things he will be forever missed. Gone but never forgotten.. We Love you always. Your Pain in the butt Son I’m law …Chris Smith

We of the Four Seasons community in Millville, where Ed spent the lastyears of his life, were very lucky to have him as a neighbor and a friend. Ed was deeply involved in community affairs from the get-go. He served on the zoning board in the city of Millville and did wonders in forging good relations between the locals and us newcomers. And, who can foprget Ed shaking his pom-poms while we watched his beloved Eagles play? He was a wonderful human being and will be sorely missed.

My heart is broken.
Ed and I had such wonderful times together, with the promise of becoming husband and wife in January.
I was looking forward to spending more time with
“My Man” as I was “His Lady.”
He always knew the right things to say and do. He was kind, compassionate, caring, determined, organized, talented and loving. He never took me for granted.
He was his own man.
There are no words to say how profoundly I will miss him, and the life together we were planning.
Goodbye my love, my life. Sleep well.
Mary

From Mike Kasuba
Ed was my brother who I loved dearly. He was five years olde and one could not have a better big brother. He took me to Cub games where we sat in the bleachers. Later on he took me to Bull games when they played in the old Amphibtheater.
But I was the one who took him to his first NFL game in the old Pontiac Stadium in Detroit.
He was a great family man, father, uncle and grandfather.
His light went out too soon and he will be missed all who knew him
Ed--RIP

This is being posted by Rena Maruna at the request of Gloria Bernhard Scapillato. It's Gloria's memory about Ed from the Berwyn/Cicero area, which is considered a "near west" suburb of Chicago. Like this comment below, there have been many wonderful comments from Ed's childhood and high school friends, many of whom get together annually for a fun-filled event, referred to by its organizer Fred Ciba as the "Magical Mystery Tour." Ed attended several of these events with his late wife Donna Lee!
"My favorite memory of Ed will always be my first boy/girl party in 5th grade in his basement. What an exciting fun time that was! He was such a nice kid and even though we lost touch I'm sure he lived the rest of his life as such a nice man. Hugs and prayers being sent to his loved ones-fly high with the angels Eddie-Love Gloria Bernhard Scapillato-thank you everyone for keeping in touch - even when the news is sad."

Ed and I were friends who hung out daily from the 3rd grade on through high school. While college and careers interrupted that daily contact, we always stayed in touch. There is no doubt that during those formative years, we each heavily influenced the man that the other became. He will be missed. Jim Maruna

I've known Ed since 8/10/07 (day I retired, and worked bingo with him). He was a man with a wonderful heart who was very compassionate. He was down to earth, and quite humble considering his notoriety. I am not embarrassed to admit that I cried when I heard of his passing. I will pray for him everyday.
