Obituary of Lillian C. Colasurdo

Lillian C. Colasurdo (nee Grasso) 93, of Elm, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday April 19, 2024 at her home with her family by her side. The tenth of eleven siblings, Lillian was born and raised in Elm and attended Elm School and Lower Camden County Regional High School. As a young girl, she worked on the family farm and at the Kessler Clothing Company, where she met her future husband. Salvatore A. Colasurdo. They married in 1947 and raised their family in Elm. She was also employed at Kessler Memorial Hospital as a Nurse's Aide. She was predeceased by her husband, Salvatore A. Colasurdo, parents Rafaele Grasso and Caroline (nee Perna) Grasso as well as her sisters Adeline Carter (Richard), Carmella Sciafo (Robert), Eleanor Milazzo (Anthony), Marie Capelli (John) and Mamie Wiedemer (Charles) and brothers, Ralph (Betty), Albert (Martha), Salvatore (Millie), Ferdinand (Angie) and Gaetano Grasso (Jenny), and son-in-law Daniel DeMayo, Sr. Lillian is survived by her son Dennis A. Colasurdo and his wife Grace, daughter Sharon DeMayo, daughter Jane Hutchinson and her husband Thomas. She is the beloved grandmother of Caron Charney (Glenn), Dennis Colasurdo Jr., Caroline Colasurdo, Daniel DeMayo Jr., Kristina Hutchinson and Thomas Hutchinson Jr. and great-grandmother of Glenn Charney Jr. and Salvatore Charney. She will be forever loved and missed by many nieces, nephews, and fondly remembered for a heart filled with melodies of old Italian songs, a love of cooking and baking, hosting family gatherings and as the keeper of our family history. A viewing will be held on Wednesday April 24, 2024 from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish Church of St. Anthony of Padua, 285 Route 206 in Hammonton, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, 500 N. White Horse Pike in Hammonton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital, 3551 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140.
