Obituary of Joan "Joanie" Granato

Please share a memory of Joan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joan "Joanie" Granato (nee Caracciolo) 74, of Waterford Works, NJ passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 21, 2024. Joanie was born in Hammonton and lived most of her life in Waterford Works, graduating with the Class of 1969 from St. Joseph's High School. At the age of 22, Joanie married her loving husband, and no doubt her soulmate, with whom she shared an unwavering commitment for over 50 years. Joanie worked as a loyal employee of ACME Markets for 48 years before retiring in 2014 to spend more time with her family. She truly was a devoted wife, mother, and "mom-mom" to her family and loved nothing more than doting on and caring for them, especially her only daughter and two grandsons whom she adored. With a strong belief in God and her faith, Joanie lived life to the fullest and enjoyed simple pleasures including cooking, shopping, going to the casinos, playing bingo, traveling, and laughing with friends. Just about everyone Joanie had ever met tells a story of how she made a lasting impression on them with her infectious smile, sweet nature, and generous heart. Gone too soon, she will be deeply missed by all. Joanie was predeceased by her parents, Joseph P. Caracciolo Sr and Mary Caracciolo (nee Falco) and her brother, Joseph P. Caracciolo Jr. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Samuel Granato Jr., her daughter, Lori Smith and son-in-law Shawn, her grandsons, Tyler and Jason, her siblings, Loretta Bartolone (Frank), Robert Caracciolo (Marita), Karen Vaccarella (Gary) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A viewing will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 9:00 AM - 10:45 AM at Christ the Redeemer Parish Assumption Church, 315 Carl Hasselhan Drive, Atco, NJ, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 260 W. White Horse Pike in Berlin. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hammonton Cancer Foundation, PO Box 1066, Hammonton, NJ 08037.
